A stock market basics concept that all investors should know is that high oil prices usually results in the market decreasing. Why? Most of the companies in the market are energy and gas dependent. They have trucks, trains, planes, boats, cars, etc. that they use to transport items from place to place. Therefore if it costs them more to purchase energy products, they have less income at the end. That can only mean that a company will have less money to grow.
