When Gum Disease And Tooth Problems Become Serious

Bacteria is always present in the mouth, that is why it is vital to maintain proper oral hygiene. Dehydration and other factors leading to dry mouth can make the bacteria breed faster and an infection may begin in your gingival tissue. This can lead to to gum disease and tooth decay problems. Gingivitis does indeed occur when gum disease prevention has failed but it is a relatively mild form of gum disease. Gum disease treatments for mild cases of gum disease can come in the form of teeth cleaning, mainly removing remove any tartar with a thorough scraping as this is a favorite hiding spot for anaerobic bacteria and normal oral hygiene cannot penetrate behind this ossified layer. Although gingivitis can be a minor case of gum disease, leaving it untreated can make the problem spiral out of control and cause serious consequences.
