September 5th, 2007

Although you may be a home improvement enthusiast, removing ceramic tile may be one project you will want to hire out to a professional. There are many hazards to removing the tile, including back or knee sprains, danger from tiles flying into your eyes and allergic reactions. You should be especially careful if you do suffer from allergies. The dust created by this type of project can be harmful to anyone, but especially someone with allergies. Also keep in mind, that many older tiles also contain asbestos, which has proven to be extremely hazardous. Even if you do not suffer from allergies, you should be sure to wear a mask for protection. Projects like this can be extremely rewarding when finished, but be practical about the health hazards.
